So disappointed in my family

Lately when my family get together, Jake is ignored.  They all greet him and hold him for 5 minutes, then pass him back to me.  Then ignore him the rest of the time.  It makes me so sad.  They were so excited for him to be born and now he is old news.

I think that he is in a very cute stage and how could you not want to be with him.  He laughs, smiles and coos.  He is so attentive to whoever holds him and it's hard not to talk to him.;). He is always so happy and doesnt fuss, so I don't understand why they pass him off so quickly.
How could you not love this guy?

The only one in my family who loves him as much as me and Dan is my sister.  She is always so excited to see him, hold him and spend time with him.  I have a feeling when he gets bigger, she will be his favorite Aunt. (Sorry Beth, you will be his favorite Avis Aunt!!!!)
I have so many pictures of Jenny and Jake, but none with him and everyone else.  I really hope they start to love him as much as I do.

Memorial weekend

Our weekend was very busy.  Saturday we had to drop Dans truck at the dealer to get a free oil change, then went grocery shopping.  Then my sister came over and we went to the outlet mall to buy Jake clothes.  We needed up going to most of the stores, but not finding anything to our liking.  We left after an hour because it was soooo crowded due to all the sales.  We decided to browse around Target, then had some froyo from a place that just opened.  We came home and took a little snooze.  My sister went to my parents house and we had pizza for dinner.

Sunday we went to my inlaws for dinner.  We ended up going over at 2:30 and staying until 8:30 because Dan wouldn't leave!  We didn't do anything fun, but sit around and talk.  We did have a delicious dinner of rib roast, asparagus, potatoes, and rolls.  It was yummy.  We had a jello cake(yellow cake with concentrated jello baked in it) for desert.  Jake and I were both exhausted when we finally got home.

Monday was my brothers birthday, so we went to my parents house to celebrate.  He opened his presents first and received at $50 gift card from us, a record player from his wife, and a grill from my parents.  We ate lunch of hotdogs, chips, and beans, then listened to records for the rest of the afternoon.

I appreciate everything that our soldiers have done and will continue to do for our country.  Because of them, we are able to be with family and loved ones, and live my life without fear! There are no words that can describe my gratitude.

Happy Memorial Day, and thank you to all who have been in the military!

House Hunters

We have been very busy looking for a house.  My parents have decided its time for us to be in a house of our own.  They feel that the market is good and they have a high chance that they house will sell.  The also want to avoid paying for any expensive repairs that are bound to come up.  We look at houses at least once a week.  We are trying to stay closer to both of our jobs, but there are not many house in our prince range.  Most of the houses we look at are very small and have sloped ceilings which makes it hard for Dan to walk in.

We usually go with my parents so they can help us pick out a house in good condition.  The problem with that is, they hate the ones we like and like the ones we hate.  It's been a very stressful time because we can't agree on anything.  Hopefully the house of our dreams will show up soon!

My first Mothers Day

It was very uneventful.  It was like a regular day.  Jake did get me a purse and a wallet.  Funny how that kid knows what I like ;)

We hung around our house and I took a nap.  We had steak for dinner.  That's it.  No big holiday for me.

Saturday was all about my mom.  We were all over at her house by 10 to celebrate.  My sister and I had to put our gift together, and that took forever.  We had no idea what we were doing.
I think the finished product turned out cute though.  After we showed it to my mom, she opened her gift from Jake, which was a photo collage of her and him, and a tiny plaque that said "this grandma is fabulous.  Then we took a walk and watched her walk over her new bridge, made by my brother.

We had hot dogs, chips, watermelon and spaghetti salad.  Then the 3 of us left and relaxed at our house.  Pretty normal weekend.

Audrey's mother day gift

Audrey and I made her Mother's Day gift this week.  I wanted to do something for her mom since she deserves it.  I found this idea on the internet (thank god for the internet), got all the supplies and worked with Audrey on it all week.  I think it turned out pretty cute.

It's Kleenex folded according style, tied with string, mounted to a wooden rod, and proofed out and colored.   Each rod is wrapped with pipe cleaners to make them look like stems.  It was easy to make, but time consuming, with folding and trying each Kleenex.  We also filled the pot with miniature candy bars.  I hope she likes it.

Double stroller fun

The lady I nanny for is awesome.  Too awesome for words.  She bought me a double stroller.
It has a smaller spot for an infant and a larger spot for a toddler.  She found it on a mom to mom site, and got it for me.  I have been worried and stressed on how I would take all 3 kids outside during the summer.  Last year we went out every day, whether it was for walks, plaing on the play set or swimming in their kiddy pool.  Both the kids and I loved going outside.  Now I don't have enough hands to hold Jake and watch Gavin(he likes to run around the yard and into the road so you constantly have to watch him).

But this stroller is perfect.  I can leave Jake in it with some toys and watch Gavin and not have to worry about either child.  My boss even said that we can use it if they decide to have another child, which I hope they do, or I can use it when I have my next kid.  I am so lucky that she thinks of me and what I need.

Here we are out for our first walk!!!

He rolled!

Jakey rolled over!! 5 months and a day and my baby finally rolled!!!

He sleeps on his stomach, and last night I checked on him everytime I went potty(which is a lot.  I don't sleep well.) he was still on his stomach.  He woke at 6 and cooed and talked until I went in there at 6:20 and he was on his back staring at me!  I was so happy.  He started laughing and smiling when I praised him(even though he has no idea what I was saying). Of course I missed it and tried to get him to do it again all day to no avail.  Next time I will try my hardest to be there!!

Gooooooooooo Jakeyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Heartbreaking

The lady that I nanny for had her sons I.E.P. today.( he is non verbal) She came home crying, saying that the meeting did not go well.  The school told her that Gavin is not getting better, and is regressing instead.  All he does is walk around with toys in his mouth, she called him a zombie.  She said hewon't be  going to kindergarten because he won't ever be ready.  She was sobbing, and I had no idea how to help her.  I had no idea how to consoul her.  All I could do is sit and be awkward.  It has to be heartbreaking to hear that your son, who you thought was slowly getting better, will never be, and will be totally dependant on you for the rest of your life.

It doesn't help that her husband is very unsupportive.  He is always in a bad mood, angry, and never home.  He is not good at supporting her when she is down or stressed.  I feel like I am there for that. Someone she can talk to, who will listen.  It hurts my heart to see an amazing mom, hard worker and great friend going through this.  I really hope Gavin does get better.  We never know what the future will be.
