Toilet troubles

Last week the toilet clogged.  I just thought it was a wad of toilet paper and tried to plunge it.  When that didn't work, I just left it for Dan to fix, because I didn't want it to overflow.  Eventually the water drained out and I thought it was fixed.   When Dan came home, it was still clogging up.  We basically couldn't flush any toilet paper until Dan brought home a toilet auger the next day.

When he used the auger, the toilet stayed clogged and we realized something was stuck down there.  Dan thought it was a toy that Jake had dropped into it.  That night we went to Home Depot to get a new toilet.  Dan was in a very foul mood for the rest of the night.  He was mad that I let Jake put something down the toilet.

Saturday Dan took out the old toilet and installed the new one.  Jake and I were banned from the house so he could work without either of us in the way.

Old toilet, don't worry, that's not poop, just rusted caulk.

New shiny toilet

It only took him 2 hours to complete the whole project.  He was very proud of himself and rightfully so.  He has never done anything like that.

He didn't want to bust up the old toilet at home, so he took it to work.  The culprit...

A bottle of contact solution.  Jake likes to go into the bathroom and pull things out of the drawers.  Contact bottles are his favorite!  Guess he wanted to see what would happen if one went into the toilet.  Little stinker.

  1. JAKEY!!!!! What a stinker! Sorry you had to go through all that trouble to fix it! Way to go, Daniel - you should be proud! :) We had similar problems when Heather was a new potty user... we had all sorts of things get flushed down the toilet. Just after Luke was born we had a similar problem... we also had it happen when Sam was a baby... Just be prepared for it to happen again. :|
