The end of February

You know, for only having 28 days, February seems to be dragging.  Maybe it's because I have only a month and a half left until baby 2 finally comes into our lives.  I am currently at 33 weeks and everything is well.  He moves a ton and I started having Braxton hicks contractions.

Jakes rash is all gone, and we are continuing to put lotion on him so it doesn't come back.  He can now say "hi" "bye" "mama" "dada" and "Lily"! He will walk into the room and say "hi" over and over again.   He loves to read, and eat, just like his mom!! We are going to have so much fun this spring and summer being able to play outside, and go to fun places like the park or the zoo!  Now that he understands more, and can focus on things, both Dan and I are having fun experiencing the world with him.

I have been reading like crazy because the weather here makes it impossible to go outside.  The temp starts in the negatives and takes all day to warm up to 20. I am half way through the reading challenge.  25 books down, 25 to go! I am finding it harder to read books for these categories, these are the categories that are out of my comfort zone.  Short stories, Pulitzer Prize winner, more than 100 years old, a book with a bad review, and written in another language will be my toughest.

That's about it for us.  March better go by quickly and the weather better turn around.  I want to meet my baby boy and get out of the house!

Rash update

It's been 6 days of the steroid cream and the rash is looking 100% better.  These pictures make it worse than it is.  The rash on his legs is completely gone and his back only has a couple of spots instead of the entire surface!

We started the medicine Saturday afternoon and it worked very quickly.  We probably won't continue with it for the full 10 days.  I was told the cream could discolor his skin.  No need to continue if the rash is gone.

Family Fun Weekend

Friday Dan, Jake and I went to Olive Garden to celebrate Valentine's Day.  Jake ate half my meal, the crazy boy.

Saturday was stay at home and be together day.  The wind was incredibly nasty and would whip the snow, so we stayed home and relaxed together.

Sunday Jake and I went to my parents house for a bit so they could visit with him, and to give Dan some space.  Jake had lots of fun playing with Grandma and Grandpa and Aunt Jenny.

When Jake started melting down, we left so we could make it home to hang out with my brother Ben and his wife Allison.  We live about 45 minutes from each other, and only see them during family get-togethers.  It was awesome for them to come visit us.  They brought us Jimmy Johns for lunch and Allison made mini horse cakes.

Jake loved having them there and was so silly.  He kept doing weird things just to get a reaction out of them.  His favorite game was to run into the room, growl and laugh like a villain, then run away.
                                  Feeding the bottomless pit!

We definitely need to see each other more! Next time we will come to them and bring the food!

Winter blues

I think I am stuck in the winter blues.  I am constantly angry, frustrated, exhausted, bored, and lazy, along with all the other negative feelings one can get.  I am having a hard time finding the motivation to even get off of my butt and interact with Jake.  I would rather read or sleep.

I am so tired of the snow and freezing temps.  The temperature rarely get above 20 degrees.  If it would ever warm up we could play in the snow or go for a walk.  But since it's so cold we are stuck inside.

Jake seems to be super pesty this week.  Any trouble to be had and that's where he's found.  We have a square cut out of the wall (I don't know why) in Jakes room and he's figured out how to get into it.  We put an extra mattress in front of it, but he knocks it over, pulls out the square and plays with the exposed pipes.

Lily has also been super pesky.  She only gets jealous when I sit on the floor and play with Jake.  The rest of the time she ignores me and sleeps on the couch.  She will sit and stare at me until I yell at her for driving me crazy, because I have no idea what she wants.

Springtime and warm weather can't come soon enough.

Rash attack

A couple of weeks ago we noticed a red spot on the back of Jake's neck.  We assumed it was just dry skin so we put lotion and A&D on it.  It looked like it was clearing up, so we weren't too concerned.

But it never progressed past that.  Then we noticed patches of it on his legs.  Then we noticed angry bright red patches on his arm, that looked like fingerprints.

We talked about how we never grab him from there, only under his pits or his hands.  We didn't know why the one on his arm was shapped like that or why it was so angry.  Now it's spreading all over his back.  It doesn't hurt him, or bug him in any way.  We just don't like how it's spreading and how it looks worse at times.
I made a doctors appointment for tomorrow and hopefully we can get this cleared up.  I really hope it's nothing serious.

Birthday celebration

Last Sunday we went over to my parents house to celebrate my birthday.  I know I say it every year, but birthdays suck when you get old.  It's no longer fun, but stressful realizing your OLD!  We had coney dogs for lunch, then I opened my presents after scarfing down cake!

I received
-a baby book for baby 2
- some maternity shirts and a pair of pants
- gift cards to Amazon.com
- a nice set of durable pots and pans

After presents we sat around and watched Jake play.  We left shortly afterwards due to the crazy amount of snow coming down.

My amazing, awesome, fabulous, caring sister in law sent me the Lunar Cronicles series!!! Thank you so much Beth!  You didn't have to get me anything.

Friday, my actual birthday, Jen came over and suprized me with cupcakes! YUM

We went to the library like usual, then to Joanns, Carters, and 5 below.  We ate lunch at Red Robin then came home because all 3 of us were exhausted.  She left right before Dan got home so he could take me to dinner.  I decided on Panera.  By the time we finished, we had to go home to put Jake to bed.  I thought it was going to be a lame day, but ended up quite enjoyable.  Next year is the dreaded 30, oh no....

Insomnia

Last night I was up from 12:30-4 AM.  I could not for the life of me fall asleep.  I got up to play on my iPad and thought it would make me sleepy.  Instead, it made me wake up even more.  I always feel that I will go back to sleep within a half hour, but that's never the case.  Apparently I will have to find something else to help me get back to sleep.

It didn't help that Jake was very restless, and kept thunking and talking all night long.  Poor kid was having just as hard of a time sleeping as I was.  Thankfully I was not exhausted and carried on with my day like normal.  Jake however, took 2 really long naps.  Hopefully tonight we both stay asleep until the sun comes up!

Snow, snow, and even more snow

It started snowing Saturday night and didn't stop for over 24 hours.  It was nuts.  We did have to venture out Sunday afternoon to celebrate my birthday with my family (more on that later) and I was hoping Dans work would be cancelled, but he went in and said the roads were fair.

Snow build up on the windows!
